Dear Friends,
I am writing to share with you the news that I am retiring from The Literacy Project on June 30, 2023. I wanted to be the first to let you know, because I am entirely grateful to you, our community partners, for your support of The Literacy Project throughout my tenure. It has been a labor of love to serve as Executive Director for the past 16 years.
My favorite memories are of visiting The Literacy Project’s classrooms - places of respect, belonging, hope and grit. Thanks to the skillful work of our teachers, Literacy Project classes offer a warm and welcoming community for adults who need another chance at success. Our students tell us over and over again how much this matters: I can be myself here. I feel safe here. I can learn here.
During my years at The Literacy Project, our program has consistently been among the top 3 Adult Education programs in the state in terms of achieving student outcomes. We’ve expanded to provide more classes during the day and evening, creating online and in person options to meet the changing needs of our communities.
The Literacy Project is a strong, vibrant, innovative program, and you are an essential part of this success. You understand, as do the staff and students at The Literacy Project, that education transforms lives.
It has transformed my own life to be part of this adventure, and I am grateful and proud to have worked alongside our courageous adult students, teachers, advisors, volunteers, board members, and you - our generous supporters.
Together we have done great work, and I have no doubt that The Literacy Project will continue to flourish and thrive.
With love and literacy,
Judith Roberts
