The Literacy Project Offers New Evening Classes with Online Learning Coach Glen Benson

“It’s never too late to go back to school,” says Executive Director of The Literacy Project, Judith Roberts, “and The Literacy Project has a new option to make it easier for adults to complete their high school education and prepare for their next steps.”

The Literacy Project is expanding their services to the community through an Online Learning option.  Adult students can now study for the high school equivalency exam using on-line tools.  They can also attend classes in Greenfield two nights a week to get one-on-one assistance with the online program.

“We work with adult students of all ages,” explains Staff Instructor Glen Benson.  “They come from a wide range of backgrounds, but what they all have in common is their commitment to continuing their education.  Our students are hard workers, and we’re excited to offer a new option to meet the needs of working adults.”  Benson, the Online Learning Coach at The Literacy Project, will teach the new evening classes, assisted by community volunteers.

To be eligible for The Literacy Project’s Online Learning Program, students must be 16 or older and not enrolled in public school.  Prospective students must be able to attend orientation meetings in Greenfield and commit at least 5 hours per week to online learning.  All services of The Literacy Project are free.

The Greenfield classroom, located at 15 Bank Row, is one of five locations in the Pioneer Valley where The Literacy Project offers free classes to adults to help them complete their high school education and prepare for collage and careers.  Over 400 students study at The Literacy Project each year, in classes taught by staff instructors and supported by volunteer tutors.
