Appreciation is a wonderful thing.
It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
— Voltaire

The Literacy Project has had the pleasure of working with many hundreds of volunteers since we began in 1984.  Here are just a few.

Volunteers bring a special enthusiasm, a unique perspective and a diversity of experience and skills that we could never replace- and we would never even try!

One can pay back the loan of gold, but one dies forever in debt to those who are kind.

In Memoriam - June Roberts

April 29, 1922-January 2, 2017

We are extremely grateful to have had the pleasure of working alongside volunteer June Roberts.  As a tutor at The Literacy Project - Greenfield, June was feisty, opinionated, and beloved.  Active into her early 90s, June was an inspiration to many of us, showing us how to grow older gracefully, generously, and with a twinkle in her eye.  Farewell, June, from all of your friends at The Literacy Project.

To leave the world a better place - whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or an improved social condition - that is to have succeeded.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
