The Literacy Project provides free basic education and high school equivalency classes to adults at 5 locations in Western Massachusetts and online.

We work with any adult who is seeking to improve their skills and get ready for their next steps.  They might be just learning to read or getting ready for college, or anywhere in between; everyone is welcome.

Most of our students already know how to read, but they may not read well enough to fill out a job application, help their children with homework, or accept a promotion at work.

Many students come to us to learn math.  Whether they need to learn how to make change for the bus or how to balance an equation, we work with them at their own pace, providing plenty of one-on-one attention.

Some students come from other countries and are learning English along with other basic skills; others were born and raised here.

They each have a story to tell about what led them to leave school as a child and return as an adult.

No matter where our students come from or where they want to go,
we work with each individual to help them set goals.

We stay with them until they are ready for their next steps.
