The Literacy Project is a non-profit, community-based adult basic education program located in Western Massachusetts with learning centers in Greenfield, Orange, Northampton, Amherst, and Ware. We offer free classes in basic reading, writing, math, G.E.D. preparation, computer literacy, creative writing, science, and social studies. We also offer a Distance Learning Program for students who want to prepare for the G.E.D. at home. We have a Transitions program to assist G.E.D. graduates with the next steps in their education. There are also many ways that members of the community work with us as volunteers.

Literacy and Adult Basic education are building blocks for democratic community development - this is one of the guiding principles of The Literacy Project's work. For more information, call one of our sites listed below, or e-mail info@literacyproject.org.
