Quabbin Reservoir Photo Journal - July 2003
Can you find the turkeys? They were bigger when we saw them!
"We took a picture of two wild turkeys running across the trail that we were walking on... I thought we were going to get attacked by the turkeys because they were actually pretty close to us. We also heard a lot of big noises!" Amanda

"Another great find was an old syrup bucket which might have been used to collect syrup from the nearby maple trees. This bucket appeared to have been in great condition with a little bit of rust. It had a nice texture covered in enamel to seal the metal from oxidizing. As much as we wanted to bring the bucket back, we decided it would have been best to leave the historical artifact in its rightful place at home." Jason

"We saw two weird shaped trees." Miah
"We came across and old, hollow Oak tree that was still alive, so it was really cool to look at." Amanda

"Miah found a toad and started singing, 'Jeremiah was a Bullfrog'". Amanda

"We saw a stone wall so we went up and looked at it and behind the stone wall was a basement that was still standing. . . I figured out a theory of where the house was and which was it faced." Heather
"We found an old house and figured out how it looked when it was still there." Amanda
"We found the remains on an older house foundation quite the treat, (as I haven't seen man made foundations before). . . There were a lot of stones which formed the interior walls of the house." Jason

"Moving on, we came across a fenced in area filled with wild blueberries. Being fenced in, we believed there had been some sort of conservation which was taking place to help save any plant species from their extinction. I haven't seen so many blueberries in an area such as that before and thought it was exciting to have seen so many berries in such a small and enclosed area." Jason

"We have just returned from the Quabbin. This trip was interesting, with all of the things that I got to see in real life." Miah
"I would like to go back again sometime." Amanda
"I would enjoy to visit the Quabbin Reservoir once again as it truly had been educational." Jason
"I had a wonderful time and got to use the digital camera. I can not wait to take another field trip to the Quabbin." Heather
