Carl Coniglio is the Site Director in Ware with primary responsibilities in GED and Adult Basic Education instruction. His first involvement with The Literacy Project was as a volunteer at the Greenfield site. Carl came to adult basic education after careers in college publishing, community-based health plans and independent secondary education. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Carl serves on a number of TLP committees, including the Strategic Planning Committee.

 

Carl graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in anthropology and philosophy, from Simon Fraser University with an MA in philosophy, and has additional graduate credits in philosophy and education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also continues to take courses and earn PDP's in the area of adult education.

 

 

Martha Shea came to the education field through her volunteer work with The Literacy Project.  After successful careers in food service and human resources management, she pursued licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education and is now a full-time instructor for the Ware Adult Education Center.  Her responsibilities include Adult Basic Education and GED preparation classes.

 

Martha was raised in Western Massachusetts and attended local public schools.  She holds a BS in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts and an MS in Organizational Psychology from Springfield College.  She is currently licensed to teach English and continues to take courses and earn PDP's in the area of adult education.
