Our trip to the Fire Station

Today we went to the Fire Station for a field trip. We met Firefighter Chris Gagnon and he talked to us about being a firefighter, and showed us some of the equipment they used, and he also showed us all the different stuff on the fire trucks. We even got to go inside one. Heather blew the horn and turned the lights on the truck on. We had a lot of fun on this trip. We learned about the different classes of fires. There are 4 classes of fires A, B, C, and D. He explained what each was and how to put them all out. I learned that you can't use water on all fires. I also learned that being a firefighter is a very good job, especially in Ware. At the Ware Fire Department, they cross-train you to be both a firefighter and a paramedic. I also learned that there are three levels of paramedic/EMT. There is basic EMT, intermediate EMT, and then the highest level is paramedic. I learned a lot of stuff that I didn't know before and it was a very good experience for me.
