The Ware
Family Center (WFC) takes every possible measure to prevent the spread of
illness at the center. To preserve the wellness of our families and
community, please take a break from playgroup and the WFC activities if you
and/or your child have any of the following:
- FEVER: fever is defined as
having a temperature of 100°F or higher taken under the arm. 101°F
taken orally, or 102°F taken rectally. For children 4 months or
younger, the lower rectal temperature of 101°F is considered a fever
threshold.
- DIARRHEA: runny, watery loose or
bloody stools that can not be contained in the diaper or toilet.
Although the episode of diarrhea may appear minor it can be extremely
contagious. Viral & bacterial infections can cause diarrhea, and
in small children sever dehydration is a risk.
- VOMITING: 2 or more times in a 24
hour period.
- BODY
RASH WITH FEVER
- IMPETIGO: impetigo is a strep
infection of the skin and highly contagious. You and your child should
not return to the center until all the lesions have dried.
- SORE
THROAT:
a sore throat could be a symptom of strep throat or tonsillitis,
especially if accompanied by a fever and/or swollen glands.
- SEVERE
COUGHING:
child gets red or blue in the face or makes high-pitched whooping
sound after coughing or accompanied by a fever.
- EYE
DISCHARGE/PINK EYE/CONJUNCTIVITIS: any green or yellow discharge from the
eye(s), redness or swelling in or around the eyes. Must be under the
care of a physician and or treatment for no less than 24 hours.
- YELLOWISH
SKIN OR EYES
- ANY
INFECTIOUS OR COMMUNICABLE DISEASE(S): (examples: lice,
ringworm, scabbies, fifths disease, measels, mumps, rubela, tetnis,
roseolla, chicken pox, shingles....)
- Child
is irritable, continuously crying, or requires more attention than you
can provide without compromising the health and safety of other
children in you care.
Please take care to sanitize both your
hands and your child's hands after wiping noses and before snack times.
Hand-washing facilities are available in the restroom, in the main play
area and in the kitchen area. A diaper changing station is available for
use in the kitchen area near the restroom. Please wash both your hands and
your child's hands after diapering or using the restroom.
Children and parents who are sick should
stay home to protect themselves and others in the center. If there is any
doubt about whether a person is contagious, please consult your physician.
If your child is displaying any unusual behavior and you think they may be developing
an illness, please use caution and stay home. This is usually the time that
the illness is most contagious.
Because the WFC receives state
funding, we are required to protect everyone.
