Lesson 35: Geometry Introduction
Geometry is used in many jobs and requires an understanding of its special
vocabulary. In this unit, you will learn how to describe and measure angles,
degrees, and triangles. Objectives

Understand the terms used in geometry. q
Solve problems involving lines and angles. q
Solve problems involving similar triangles and right triangles. Learning Activities 1.
Video: a. Watch Program 35
where workers and students demonstrate how to use given angle and side
measures to find unknown angle and side measures in different situations. b. As you watch,
notice the different ways people solve the same geometry problem. 2. Workbook: a. Read pages
169-172 and complete “Sneak Preview.” b. Read page 173.
Then complete and correct the exercises on pages 174-185 about working with
lines and angles, working with triangles, and working with circles. c. Complete and
correct the “GED Practice” on pages 186-190.
This section is similar to the GED Math Test. 3. Internet: a. Log onto your
Home Space at http://litlink.ket.org
and follow the links to GED Connection, Math. Under Internet Activities,
open “33, 35: Measurement & Geometry” and complete the following:
i.
Read “About This Activity.”
ii.
Read “Key Ideas.”
iii.
Complete all parts of the “Activity.” (NOTE: Be sure to click on
“Save” after you type in each box.)
iv.
Complete the “Quiz” and check your answers.
v.
