Lesson 34:  Formulas

Introduction

A formula is a tool, or a set of instructions, for solving a problem.  To solve a formula, you substitute numbers for the letters, or variables, and do the operations.  In this lesson, you will learn how to solve formulas and when to use specific formulas.  Remember, your formula sheet is a great tool.  You can also use it when you take your official GED test!

Objectives

When you complete this lesson you will:

q       Solve formulas by substitution.

q       Solve formulas by isolating the variable.

q       Apply perimeter, circumference, area, and volume formulas to solve real-life problems.
