Lesson 26:  Physics

 

Introduction

 

Physics is the study of the relationship between matter and energy.  In this lesson, you’ll see how the relationships between matter and energy affect our lives in many ways.   

 

Objectives

 

When you complete this lesson you will:

·        Gain knowledge of the laws of motion, work, and heat.

·        Be familiar with wave properties and behavior.

·        Explore magnetism, electricity, and nuclear physics.

 

Learning Activities

 

1.       Video: 

·        Watch Program 26 for an overview of Physics. 

·        As you watch, make a list of all the types of energy that are mentioned. 

 

2.      Workbook: 

 

·        Develop and practice your science skills on pages 226 - 237 of the GED Connection Science/Social Studies workbook. 

·        Complete the GED Practice exercises on pages 238 - 240 in the GED Connection Science/Social Studies workbook.  Correct the exercises using the answer key in the back of the book beginning on page 269.

 

3.       Internet:

    • Log on to your Home Space at http://litlink.ket.org and follow the links to GED Connection, Social Studies.
      • Under Internet Activities, open “26: Physics” and complete the following:
        1. Read “About This Activity.”
        2. Read “Key Ideas.”
        3. Complete all parts of the “Activity.” (NOTE: Be sure to click on “Save” after you type in each box.)
        4. Complete the “Quiz” and check your answers.
        5. Complete the “Follow Up” activities as needed.
