22: Passing the GED Science Test
Introduction
This lesson provides an overview of the GED Science test. In the GED Science Test, you will need to understand,
analyze, and apply science information.
You will not be required to memorize science facts. However, being familiar with key science
concepts will help you pass the test.
The following are the main content areas to expect: ·
Life science (45%) – including cells, genetics, evolution,
organisms, and ecosystems. ·
Earth and Space Science (20%) – including the universe, the solar
system, Earth itself, and interactions between people and the
environment. ·
Physical Science (35%) o
Chemistry – including the structure and states of matter, chemical bonds and
reactions, and specifics types of substances such as solutions and
hydrocarbons. o
Physics – including the laws of motion, work, and heat; waves; nuclear
physics; and electricity and magnetism. Objectives
When you complete this lesson you will: ·
Be exposed to the skills and content on the GED Science test. ·
Investigate the types of questions that will be presented to you about
science. ·
Experience how science questions are based in real-life situations. Learning Activities

As you watch, think about what motivates these men and women to devote
their lives to science. 2.
Workbook: ·
Read pages 149 - 150 for the overview of “Passing the GED Science
Test”. ·
Complete the GED Practice exercises on pages 151 - 155 in the GED
Connection Science/Social Studies workbook. Correct the exercises using the answer key in the back of the
book. 3.
