Brief Description (for website index):

Math Averages (for Beginners)

Lesson Objective(s):

To practice asking questions of others, to organize information (answers to questions), and to accurately calculate averages.

Lesson Procedure:

Students generate a list of questions, for which answers will be a number, to ask other students.  Questions are copied so that each student has the same list of questions.  Students ask the questions of all other participants.  The information must be kept organized so that they can then calculate the answer as an average for the class.

Materials Needed:  paper, pencils

Special Comments:  some students may finish before others, in which case they could:

Help others complete their math, or type the questions and answers to create a webpage of the information.  For such an example, see:  http://www.literacyproject.org/WAEC/learners/interestingaverages.html
