Renaissance Faire

Field Trip October 18, 2003

This field trip was mostly for Joe's pre-GED class who were studying the Renaissance as part of the History of Scientific Thought Unit.

People really had a great time, and were sorry they couldn't stay longer.    "It was like entering another world," said Joyce.

We want to go to another Renaissance Faire as soon as the weather gets warmer!!!!

Some Renaissance style musicians

One of the aspects of this faire that made it enchanting were the "Fey".   There was a magic oak tree walking around.  We had a nice conversation with the "Poisoner Fey".  Some of the magic people were nice and some were a little bit "scary".   This Cat Fey wanted Luz to bow down to her, and threatened her with some drastic retaliation if she refused.  But Luz is from New York and she "don't bow down to no one!!"

These children were part of the Polish cavalry exhibit wearing period Renaissance outfits.     There were very many knowledgeable people to talk to and learn from, but the adults at this display were very well informed about Poland (where the East met the West) during the Renaissance.

Here's Luz listening to some enchanting Renaissance music played on the harp.

That's JOYCE!

She's watching a Maypole dance.
