The modern age begins to appear more in the 19th Century. One major change in Europe and the United States was the Industrial Revolution, which, was a change from an agricultural society to an Industrial Society. Colonial Imperialism was mainly about one nation controlling another: for example Europeans Controlling Africans and Asians. Idea systems such as racism, capitalism, communism, progress, and liberalism started to break down traditional religions. Liberalism is the belief in individual rights and freedoms, which was very frightening to many people because it threatened their traditions. The 19th Century lead to the progress in the 20th Century which brought new struggles and challenges that people had to over come.
