CARL LINNAEUS

THE FATHER OF MODERN PLANT AND ANIMAL CLASSIFICATION!

Carl Linnaeus was born on May 23,1707 in Rashult, Sweden.  He died on Jan 10,1778 in Uppsala, Sweden.  Linnaeus went to school to earn a degree in medicine.  In 1753 he became a professor and 22 of his students also went on to become professors who passed on his discoveries to others.  Linnaeus is mostly famous for his classification of plants and animals and also for developing a system of assigning scientific names to all organisms.  Most of the names he chose are still being used today.
