Would this country be better off if marijuana laws were more lax?
How often do you hear of people dying from marijuana consumption? I bet never! If they legalized marijuana there would be less drug wars and more money for the government, because of this the government could tax marijuana just like everything else, which in return would greatly increase our countries economic value. Marijuana is definitely the safest drug out there termed illegal.
It is organically grown which means there are no additives in it unless you lace it, but most people don’t.
Marijuana also helps people with different disorders. Illnesses such as aids and cancer can be very painful which the marijuana can help you deal with, but these illnesses cause you to have to receive medical treatment. These treatments such as chemotherapy can make you very nauseated and unable to eat. When you smoke marijuana it gives you something “potheads” term “the munchies”. This makes you able to consume food, relax your body and mind, and also get rid of your nausea.
Also, people with psychological issues such as manic-depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and so on tend to find marijuana extremely helpful with their moods, manic and depressive and also with their ability to cope in everyday life.
In marijuana there is a chemical known as THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, which acts as a sedative. This is good for people who have hyperactive issues. Since it is a sedative it makes them feel very calm, so they’re not bouncing off the walls. I have seen this to be true on many occasions through personal experience.
I strongly support the use of marijuana for medical and personal usage. Marijuana is not as dangerous as everyone believes it to be as you have read above. Also when is the last time ANYBODY has died or overdosed from marijuana? Never. You cannot overdose on marijuana; to do that you would have to smoke more than your body weight, which is physically improbable because you would fall asleep first from being so high. Marijuana should definitely be legal because people are going to do it anyway. It being illegal only makes the judicial system have to deal with thousands of pointless court cases because of people being caught with marijuana, which takes up everyone’s time and energy which I’m sure everyone agrees is not cool. If you would like an example of what will happen with marijuana (in my belief) as time goes on, look at the 1930’s. In the 1930’s there was an alcohol prohibition act, which, we all know, wasn’t very successful. All that led to was people making moonshine and selling/exporting it out of underground breweries. Because everyone was still drinking even after it was made illegal, the government realized they couldn’t stop it no matter what they did, and legalized it again. So to me marijuana is kind of like that and if everyone just keeps smoking regardless, then one day others will realize marijuana cannot be stopped either. It is not there to hurt you or put you in jail it is there to ease your mind from everyday bullshit. We are potheads and this is our manifesto.
