Zach at First Grade When
my son Zachary was in the first grade, the teacher didn't like him. She would complain to me that he wouldn't
pay attention in class, and when they were having group time he would pick up
lint off the rug. Every day he would
come out of school crying, saying he was stupid and how he hated school. I also noticed when the teacher graded his
papers she would put big red X's on them.
I tried talking to her so we could work out the problems, but all she
would say was how lazy he was and tell me ways I could motivate him at
home. Finally I got fed up with her
and went to the principal, but she tried to blame Zachary. So after about the third meeting with the
principal, I insisted Zachary change to another classroom. He finished the first grade with another
teacher and was a much happier child. Michele Greenfield,
