HOW DO I LEARN
AND HOW DO I WANT THIS CLASS TO GO FOR ME
Learning to me is a very
important issue for my future. A manner of living my life to its best
expectations is education. Good techniques are being organized and being a
good hard working student. For learning I use the encyclopedia and the
library to do my homework. How do I
want this class to go for me?
Enlighten me by teaching all the basics that are necessary to pass my
GED test. Right here at the
Charboneau Learning Center, also known as The Literacy Project, is where we
all learn. I’ve learned a lot here with our teacher and other students. In
this class our teacher helps us by giving us a writing book, math books,
pencils, highlighters, colored markers, and handouts on all the subjects such
as Social Studies, Math, and English.
My favorite technology for learning is computers, and my teacher
advances me on all subjects. The first subject for me was court cases, and
the computer worked like wonders! As a group we created a booklet called “The
History of Scientific Thought”, a thematic unit and it came out terrific! I’m the type of student
that likes to learn all subjects: Writing, Reading, Science, History, and
Social Studies. I learn by coming to school every day, listening, taking
notes, paying attention, and being well organized to the best of my ability.
Taking notes helps because if I forget anything, that’s my main back up tool
for all my subjects. We read as a group and it helps in case I don't know a
word or can't pronounce it correctly.
Is reading re-reading? Is
writing thinking? If your answer is yes, you’re correct. There are eight essential Mathematics Life Books to learn. My best method is “scrap paper management”. For mathematical activities we all have the books. We also have charts, calculators, spreadsheets, tables, and formula sheets. At eleven-thirty in the morning we get our evaluation sheets. I do "The Threes" which helps explain any subject step by step. The “Threes Sheet” is for explaining words I didn’t know, what I learned, and how I learned it. Without a teacher, encyclopedia,
computer, calculator, library, and books, my hard work wouldn’t have been
done. I learn by using all the technology that my teacher teaches me and by
observations. For my essays I use a revision checklist. Saving my notes as backup helps a great
deal. Here, at the Charboneau Learning Center, I have gained learning skills,
knowledge, instructions, and experience. I spoke with my teacher about the
reason why some people fail the GED test, and he agreed to help me. That’s
great! I am very grateful to be a student here, and I can't wait to reach my
goal. Don’t forget to use the website! www.literacyproject.org/charboneau.htm |
