Philosophers vs. Scientists

There are quite a few different ways to distinguish a scientist and a philosopher. In this essay, I will be describing the differences. The first thing a person/people have to know is that a philosopher and a scientist are two completely different types of people.  A scientist, for example, is the type of person that studies certain things to a certain extent, experiments on things, makes comparisons, and also does other things. Aristotle was one of these scientists who wrote on meteorology and metaphysics.

There are also other types of scientists like rocket scientists who study a variety of different things. There are NASA scientists that study astronomy, help build rockets, have test runs with the rockets, and then send the rockets off to the moon and to Mars. Scientists have been trying so hard to find a way to be able to send rockets to other planets that are safe to be on. When this happens, it will probably be the biggest breakthrough in the history of rocket science, and most likely in history.

From what I have known about scientists, they still have a lot that they don't understand. But to my understanding, scientists have been having a lot of breakthroughs that are and aren't safe.  For example, scientists have put steroids in animals that make them stronger, which in fact puts the scientist(s) in danger because the animal just might become nasty and or turn on the scientists.  One breakthrough that has been safe is cloning animals. Cloning is taking DNA from a regular animal like a cat and making a replica with the same exact genes. Now this took years of trying to figure out how to do this. But when scientists were finally able to figure out how to clone a single animal, it was a complete miracle that was most likely celebrated between the scientists.

Philosophers on the other had are definitely quite different. They don't experiment on poor defenseless animals like a rat, and they don't study the moon, or plan on going to other planets in the years to come.  Instead they are great thinkers that have been around for a long, long time.  There are many great thinkers that have been dead for a very long time now, but had taught young people about their ideas. The philosophers and their students had conversations in which the students would voluntarily ask questions and the teachers would give straight out answers, or just give them a question for them to think about.  These questions and answers are called "dialogues". Philosophers in my honest opinion are more observant than scientists could ever be. Three famous philosophers that I know of are Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates. These three men have also been dead for a long, long time, but are famous for their beliefs and ideas about a variety of topics such as people, the world, and life.  They have all one thing in common- they are all famous people that have an extreme way of thinking.

Scientists will never, in my honest opinion, be able to unlock the mysteries of these great minds. They may try again and again, but will fail miserably. To be a philosopher is to question everything that you have learned and or now know.
