Franklin D. Roosevelt

                            (Timeline 1882 – 1945)

1882 – Franklin D. Roosevelt was born in Duchess County, New York.

1905 – On St. Patrick’s Day, Franklin married Eleanor Roosevelt.

1910 – Franklin won election to the New York senate.

1920 – Franklin D. Roosevelt went for Vice President on the Democratic ticket.

1928 – Franklin was elected Governor of New York

1929 – Franklin becomes Governor of New York

1929 – Stock Market crashes and the Great Depression started

1932 – Franklin was elected President

June 16,1933 – The National Industrial Recovery Act come into play

1933 – Franklin creates Federal Alcohol Control Administration.

1933 – Franklin creates the Civil Works Administration

1933 – Franklin declares a nationwide bank holiday.

1933 – Franklin legalizes wine & beer up to 3.2%

1932 – Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected for the first time

1934 – Franklin signs Federal Credit Union Act establishing credit unions.

1935 – The Social Security Act was passed

1935 – The National Labor Act also known as the Wagner Act got passed

1935 – Franklin signs an act prohibiting export of US arms to belligerents.

1936 – Franklin rededicates Statue of Liberty on its 50th anniversary

1936 – Franklin was re-elected for his second terms as U.S. President

1937 – Franklin tries to pack the Supreme Court with supporters

1940 – Franklin was re-elected for his third term as U.S. President

1941 – The US declares war on Germany, Japan, and Italy to officially enter World War II

1944 – Franklin wins 4th terms in office, defeating Thomas E. Dewey

April 12,1945 – Franklin dies at Warm Springs, Georgia of a cerebral hemorrhage.

1945 – Franklin was buried on the grounds of Hyde Park home

1945 – World War II ended in Europe less than a month after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
