My Grandmother, Mary

The most inspiring mentor in my life has been my grandmother Mary. She has always given me unconditional love through all the hard times I have put her through. She has taught me to love myself and be happy with what life had dished out for me. She taught me morals and the value of life. When I have fallen, she has always picked me up and taught me to stand on my own. I respect her for all she has done for me and taught me in my life.

My Grandmother has inspired me by showing me how to be strong. When life got me down, she supported me in all the things I did. It made me feel like a better person knowing that I could make my own decisions. She mentored me and helped me with decisions that I did not feel strong enough to make on my own. Just thinking about what she did for me makes me keep going in all that I do.

This great woman has always loved me unconditionally, no matter what I have put her through. Once I told her I wanted to go over to my girlfriend’s house and really I was going to see a boy. She called the girl that I was supposed to be with and found out I was not there. When I got home that night she told me that she was not having lies in her house. She told me that if I told her the truth that she would not love me any less and be more supportive of my outings. She has always shown her love by giving me a strong firm hand.

When I was growing up I did not have what I was entitled to. My grandmother told me that sometimes we do not always get what we want. She told me that she would do everything she could for me to make me feel normal. My Gram’s always told me that I was beautiful no matter how I looked in my clothes. She told me that I have a good spirit and that is what makes me a good girl. In knowing that, I know I am a mature woman and that I have all that I need.

I respect her for all she has done for me and taught me in my life. My grandma is a strong-hearted lady. She would give anything she has if she knew it would help someone or make them feel better. She is a great listener and wonderful mother. If I could I would make her my mother. She is my love and my heart. Thinking about how much she loves me and all that she has done for me makes me feel like I am the woman that I am because of her.
