Systems

Your body (you!) is a system made up of countless smaller systems just as you play your parts in a broad network of larger kinds of systems. These systems (inside and outside you) are one way of looking at the nature of things, life, and the universe.

The concept of "systems" can help us understand how good scientific thinkers investigate the universe. It may be true that no question is a stupid question, but it is just as important to recognize how some questions are asked in ways that lead to better understandings. Science can be looked at as a systematic way of asking better and better questions.

Language Based Learning

(Okay, this IS a way of letting you know that we don't have any fancy science labs, but one time Gordon was able to use a lemon as a flashlight battery! We also have access to Terry the Torso! And, we do have passes to the Greenfield YMCA)

Health, Tobacco, and Choices

The Literacy Project has a long term commitment to community health and health education. Our expert Health Team can provide everything from tobacco counseling to extra help with a science presentation. The Health Team has helped us recruit guest speakers for our classes as well as providing confidential assistance to learners attempting to navigate the health system.
