We are going to this together, we don’t have much time, but we can do a brief run down. We should be organized with this. So if you have imput, you should shout it out, but if you really don’t want to don’t.

What kind of job would you like to get in the future?

What Things/programs/trainings/certificates/ do you need in order to prepare yourself for a life than can qualify yourself for this kind of position?

-         Helps you get personal interviews.

-         Provides the employer with info during the interview.

-         Reminds the employer of you after the interview.

Template –

Personal information – Email (Don’t use weird e-mail addresses, like sexy69er or maryjane420. If you want to put an e-mail address on your resume, use one that is appropriate!

Job Objective

Special skills – see handout of special skills (Use examples form the students skills)

Work experience – when explaining the work you did/do, be sure to use action verbs.  (Use examples from student’s jobs)

Volunteer work – If you have done any volunteer work, doing something without getting paid for it, be sure to include it on your resume. If you are interested in finding volunteer work, let me know, and I we can together find an appropriate match. – Dial-Self, Survival Center, Senior Center, Animal Shelter, Food Pantry, Etc.

 

Steps to doing a Resume

#1 Fill out the template by thinking. If you have a brain fart, move on.

#2 Go to the computer, use the template to produce a working resume. Be sure to save this info on a disk.

#3 Make an appointment with me to go over the revision process for your resume.
