Supplies needed: Students, Student notebooks, writing utensils and Chalk Board

 

Explain Activity (2minutes 9-9:05a): Amber is going to ask you some questions. You can close your eyes if you want to to bring yourself to the place she wants to bring you. After she has asked the question, Open your eyes and write down a one-word answer to the question.

 

Begin Activity with Q’s (10minutes, 9:05-9:15a):

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

            Where do you want to live?

What kind of work do you want to be doing?

How much education will you have?

Who do you want to spend your time with?

If you could give money to help other people what kind of program would you give it to?

 

 Survey the class, writing answers on the board (10 minutes, 9:15-9:25a):

 

Ask more questions (10 Minutes 9:25-9:35a)

            What are you doing now to prepare yourself for the reality of attaining this vision?

 

Introduce guest speaker

            Today, we will have 2 people come to speak to you all. They are both from GCC. Jean will talk to you about the GED test. You will probably see her 5 times before you start your first day of classes. Herb (Sarah) is from the Admissions office. He/She will talk to you about the admissions process.

            We should think of some questions to ask Jean in regards to the GED registration procedure, the GED test, the placement test, or help for choosing classes. Herb will be able to answer questions about deadlines, fees, major choosing, financial aide, and or other questions.

 

Some questions that you may have now will be answered in the next few hours.

            Take notes – no doodling

            Don’t speak over another classmate or the Guest Speaker

            Be respectful towards each other
