Shutting down

The difference between "Shutting Down" a computer and turning off its power switch is even more important.

"Shutting Down" really refers to a series of software operations performed by your operating system. It’s like housekeeping. Your operating system just wants to make sure everything is in its place before the lights go out. That way things will go so much easier (and faster) the next time you "start up".

If you have a computer that runs "Windows", you’ll find the "Shut Down" command in the "Start" menu. Doesn’t that make sense?
