Movement in the USA. Watched a video on the rise of the
KKK and other hate groups. Good discussion. Worked on a crossword puzzle
that focused on
famous blacks and their accomplishments. Glanced at the timeline we will be doing on the civil
rights movement.

a variety of equivalent forms in contextual situations (Number Sense)
Group activity for entire class.
Worked on the math packet on fractions and decimals. Overall it
went very well. A couple students struggled initially, but
by the end were feeling pretty good
about what they had learned.

Another student did some research on Tarantulas for a writing project he
has in mind.

How everything is made up of a small number of building blocks
(Similarity and Diversity)
We went over what an atom is (an equal number of protons and electrons
for our purposes) and
how they bond so that their
outer electron shells are full.
We used candy for hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen atoms and
created some simple
organic molecules (plus CO2 and H2O)
