One person finished a Writing project and will count it toward July.  Another is making good

progress, but chose to work on Math for the last hour of class.

Word Bank Words

People were asked to find 5 words from their reading or writing.  We put up, discussed, and

defined 9 words before finally choosing five words for this month's Word Bank.

The words are: draconian, falsetto, consecrate, distillation, and serenity.

 

We also did a citizenship quiz brought in by Dave.  This covered a lot of the same material we

had been reading and talking about for the past few weeks.

Math

Three people worked on decimals.  One person worked on graphing and learned to use Excel to

make a Pie Graph.

                           Dynamics among power, authority, and participation (Power, Authority, & Participation)

Comparing the powers of the President to the powers of the Congress.  We listed many of

the formal powers of each and discussed how the formal powers are those that are written in the

 Constitution.  Personalities, circumstances, relationships, and popular opinion are informal

means by which these powers can grow or weaken.

Vocabulary, Writing, and Math

One learner started working with the class vocabulary words, but decided to choose her own

words form her reading in Romeo and Juliet.  Then she worked in Math (Decimal Operations).

 

Another learner finished her Vocabulary/Sentence Structure Activity before working on Decimal

Operations (long division).

The third student worked on the computer doing a writing project for one half of the class.

During the other half he worked in Math, learning about frequency charts and histograms while

We went over  all the amendments grouping them into categories:

1-10 The Bill of Rights  1791

11-12 Correction Amendments  1798 -1804

13-15 Reconstruction Amendments  1865 -1870

16-19 Progressive Amendments  1913 -1920

20 -27 Modern Amendments 1933 -

 

Marguerite agreed to make a table of all the clauses in the Bill of Rights
