One student is finalizing a bunch of pieces to put into a book. Another finished his June Writing
project before working on Math (mixed numbers). Another completed her
July Writing Project.

2 people were working on long division.
One person worked on multiplying and dividing
fractions and mixed numbers. Another worked on percent problems (percent

How individuals and groups interact with and impact systems (Systems)
Class watched video…"Shadow of
Hate." Sparked good discussions about hate, bias and
prejudice in this country both past and present. Read an article about
the history of the Ku Klux
Klan. Sparked more questions about the symbols they use (cross burning,
swastika, vocabulary,
handshakes, etc.) We will follow up with further discussions about this
as well history of other
organizations that use symbols and rituals.
Vocabulary words…"carpetbaggers" and "scalawags."

One student worked on long division, moving into examples with 2 digits
in the divisor. Another
worked hard on percent problems.
Two students also worked on writing with one starting an account of his
car breaking down and
the other finding graphics to decorate a book we hope to bind soon.
One student practiced reading and writing with a volunteer tutor.
