class does, so they
started with a cloze activity on the Triangle Fire, the Progressive
Movement and the New Deal.
They also took a longer reading on the Triangle Fire to read before
starting a writing assignment
- which we will figure out later.

We went over the reading identifying important people, dates, and things

organizations).
Frances Perkins was a young "uptown" (Mink Brigade) social
activist who later became
Secretary of Labor during Roosevelt's New Deal. She claimed that the Triangle Fire was the
start of the New Deal.
Sweatshops were (and ARE) dangerous and unhealthy working places where
workers are low
paid and subject to strict discipline.
