Very busy class today.
Dictionary activity: word list: Jet, inosculate: intertwining vines
or veins, strongbox, Chan Kiang:
City in South China, Walk-up, lion, gorcock: male red grouse.
Students came up with some excellent sentences. This activity is truly
one they enjoy.
Book Review: Each student chose a book from the ones I brought back from
conference. Gave
them an outline to write a review after they read the book. Outline: Title, Author, Main
idea/Character, 3-5 important facts, 1 thing they really liked about the
book, 1 thing they didn't
like about the book.
Create a character/ Write their story: Students take turns choosing name, age, height, weight,
hair color, eyes, lives in/where, job, favorite food, pet, kids,
hobbies. Using any or all of that
information, they then create a story based on the character(s) they
created.
