First day back after 2 weeks off. Students seemed happy to be back. We worked on a

crossword puzzle, did a Venn diagram based on an article we read about Power Soccer.

Students diagrammed similarities and differences between Power Soccer and Regular Soccer.

Class started reading about the suffragette movement. We will be looking at similarities between

Civil War fight for freedom of slaves, women's rights, civil rights movement.

Read a short piece and did some writing exercises including a fact or opinion exercise about

influential women in the 1800s and early 1900s. Women included Susan B Anthony, Elizabeth

Cady Stanton, Martha Wald, Dr. Alice Hamilton.

Science. Read and discussed genetics. Did a Punnett

Square to plot out probability of eye color of children of brown /blue eyed parents, blue/hazel

eyed parents, also worked a Punett Square for the probability of someone contracting Huntin

gton's Disease.

Looked at map of the US and noted the states and years that gave women voting rights. Color

coded maps to show states with no rights, limited rights and full rights for women. Students

really like using the overheads to do this. Good exercise!
