                                                 Learn strategies for organization (Writing)

Did a crossword puzzle. Read and discussed several articles in the newspaper. Read article

about the 16 year old who went to Iraq without telling anyone. Gave class outline for 5

paragraph essay and asked them to answer the question: What did they think about his

adventure. Would they punish him if he were their son?

Class started first draft of answers to the question.

Read and discussed herbal flowers and healing herbs.  Read about dolphin communications.

Discussed article in the Recorder about the "Lost Kingdom" that was discovered in Indonesia

and the various plants and animals thought to be extinct that were discovered there also.

Straight up spelling drills. Finding the misspelled words in sentences and making the corrections.

Good activity even though it was tough.

More work on the spelling drill that was started yesterday.

More writing /spelling drills. They really liked the exercises. Some were  challenging but they

plodded on through. These exercises have been good for their spelling skill building.

Worked on crossword puzzle. Read several articles about Emergency procedures and

preparedness  in the event of a hurricane or emergencies or natural disasters.

Worked on crossword puzzle. Read and discussed some articles in newspaper.  Played scrabble

using only words that had to do with math.

Worked on changing per cents to fractions as a group. Then students did individual math and

some reading. Went into Joe's class at 11 to hear 2 people from AFSC talk about the things the

military does in its efforts to recruit young people.

Did some converting of mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa.
