Did a history timeline from the 1400's up to now. Students placed historic icons on the years

that the events occurred. Each student took icons that were left (because no one knew when

event occurred) and looked them up on the internet. Once the timeline was complete, each

student  chose an event to report on. I outlined on the board how I wanted the report done. Told

 class they were to write as if they were reporting a news story….who, what, where, when, why

History Research Projects

People used the internet (or encyclopedias) to learn more about various events in US History.  

Topics researched included The Revolutionary War, Lewis and Clark, Civil War, invention of

the telephone,  Prohibition, and World War II.  Some people worked on other writing projects 

(a short story and a summary of the Arthurian legends) and one learner had a Learner's Conference.
