Class began by watching video of the beginnings of the Civil War. We
later did a "quiz"
together in order to see what people already knew about the Civil war.

Continued working on some grammar
exercises that we had started earlier. Reviewed pronouns
and did a whole subject/verb agreement exercise. Class had some real
difficulty so we will
continue to do this from time to time.

Class began doing a spelling
review. Went well. Students struggled with a number of the
activities and words but slogged through them anyway. Class will develop
a spelling word list to
use in building sentences and doing a "test."

began using a new history book
today. Students did some silent reading
about the Civil War
and then did some exercises, including fact and opinion, sequencing and
some true/false.

and use patterns and functions to represent and solve problems (Patterns,
Relationships & Functions)
Class practiced %…. Recognizing per
cents, converting percents to fractions to decimals and
back again. They did extremely well.

Reviewed some science books. Chose
to work from all 3 at different levels.
Began a unit on animals and how their environments force adaptations in
how they live, what
they look like, how and what they eat.
