Feedback Focus Group for Drop-out Brochure

Ken Johnston brought the latest version of his brochure targeted at youth who are considering leaving high school.  He stepped the group through a lot of focus group questions about the circumstances and

feelings under which people left school, knowledge that they had about their options when they left

school, and perceptions about the importance of education.  He also asked for specific feedback on

various parts of the text and the pictures.

Life Science (Biology): Bacteria and Viruses

Did a pretest and then used reading strategies to check our answers in a chapter of a Biology book

(Biology Demystified: A Self-Teaching Guide by Dr. Dale Layman).  Most of the answers could be found

in the pictures or the headings.  A few required finding the right paragraph and reading it.  One was very

hard because it required careful reading and some background knowledge (Nucleic acids = DNA or

RNA)

Then we made a list of facts about Bacteria and a list of facts about Viruses.
