-- Express thoughts in writing (Writing)
Portfolios,
Resumes, and Accomplishment Statements
It was a very grumpy class.
After responding to some
writing prompts, we looked at the Success Pyramid, and started to write
Accomplishment
Statements. Some people were more
focused on the GED pre-test. Jane Brown
of the
DOE spent some time interviewing the students.

-- Express thoughts in writing (Writing)
Starting
a new class. "Starting" writing.
Starting Resumes and Portfolios.
A very quiet and serious
class.
New learners wrote writing
samples on various prompts. (Most
people chose to write about writing.)
Returning learners rewrote
their Learning Plans and/or signed them (and had them "witnessed")
Some people rated their
strengths for success - using the "Success Pyramid" as their
guide. Then they
started to write statements
that demonstrated they had these strengths.
(These could be the start of a list
for a resume).
We also discussed questions
about writing and questions about the class - and how both "action"
and
"reflection" are
necessary conditions for learning anything (including writing) or positive growth.
