-- Analyze and explain methods for solving
proportions (Number Relationships & Computation)
Lots
going on in class. Some kids worked independantly on computer(no
problems…worked with no
innappropriate behaviors at
all..YAY!!!). Rest of class worked on fractions. We practiced converting
mixed fractions to improper
fractions, reducing fractions and multiplyingfractions using cancellation. I
also
cut a pattern for a dress
for a student while class was working on practice problems on board. We had a
really good class…everyone was engaged in productive
work.

Thursday, May 20, 2004 5 Learners present. 2.5 hours
-- Express thoughts in writing (Writing)
Started
working on some writing exercises. Used a format that includes an
autobiographical approach to
answering questions. This
has worked well in the past as a starting point for writing. We have put much
focus on having learners
write about themselves after giving them a specific prompt. This takes the
pressure off to come up
with their own ideas. Onward and upward
to a cohesive paragraph and
hopefully a simple essay!!!
