Individual math. Moved sewing machine into classroom. Working on 2 dresses. Students laying out and

cutting patterns. Plans for more sewing projects in future. Students worked together laying out pattern and

cutting.

Participated in Voter Education Workshop led by student leaders Luz, Ellen and Regina (helped along by

Lynne and Margaret). Very good, fast paced informative presentation. Good interactive activities.

Students seemed really engaged.

A Writing Day

Worked in the "Writing Your Life" book practicing making complete sentences from incomplete

sentences - and separating run-on sentences.  Using the words "Who, What, When, Why and How"

learners were assigned the task of picking a "News For You" article and using those words to write a

brief summary.

Read several articles from "News For You".  Each article was accompanied by a variety of writing

exercises. Class really got into the writing. Much focus has been spent on getting them to write first and

then do the editing later. Making writing a part of every class has really helped get them used to the idea

of writing as more than another chore.
