fun class today. Louise baked and brought in 18 mini cakes. Sarah's mom (Chris
Behilo) came in
and gave us a very fun class
on cake decorating. We all tried our hand at borders and flowers. Some
even attempted to make
roses…overall a really fun morning. Some very
"creative" cakes !

little preliminary info session on various types of Resumes and the purpose of
each. Will have each
student begin working on
Resume next week. We also discussed the value of a portfolio and what
should/could go in one.
Class really liked idea of creating resumes and starting portfolios because a
few
students are actually
pursuing employment possibilities.
We had LASAGNA!!!! Li'l
Chris and Louise made it for classes.

productive morning. Started focused unit in Social Studies…"Our Place in
the World." Did a Map
worksheet…needed to find 20
named locations in the world and label them. Did a fun exercise that had
students decide if
something was a fact or an opinion.
Started reading about the population dispersement
in the world. Had Students
highlight important facts in each paragraph. This will be reviewed and used to
develop an outline for a
writing project.

on a crossword puzzle to get the morning started. Read an article about Jack
Lalanne and his
health regimen at 89.
Discussed ways to keep healthy. Did a writing exercise that included learners
thoughts on what it takes
to stay healthy. They also wrote about what they do for their health, i.e.
diet,
exercise, etc.

Olsen, Louisa May Alcott, Billie Jean King, Women Wrestlers, Mary
Baker Eddy. We will work on
narrowing down the field next week and begin our preliminary research
and writings.
