My name is Roy Johnson. I was born in Jamaica in the village of Clarendon, which is situated almost in the center of the country. I was raised by my parents Joseph and Catherine Johnson, and I think they did an excellent job raising me. I spent most of my childhood in Clarendon. I went to school there. In 1986, I was 18 years old. I got the opportunity to go the United States to work in the H2 Farm Program. I think I was lucky to get into the program because the program was looking for guys that were muscularly built, and over twenty years old. I was just eighteen years old, 127 pounds, five feet-five inches tall. But the good thing that happened is I made it. I knew my life will be better when I got to the United States. I would be working getting some money so that I could help my parents back home.
Now I live in the United States for the last five
years as a permanent resident. I have a wife and family. I also have a job
and am going to school at night at the Amherst Learning Center to further
my education.
